Why flashcards work

Flashcards train active recall - your child reads the problem, tries to answer in their head, then checks. That "try first, peek second" loop builds the multiplication facts into long-term memory faster than just re-reading the times tables. Short, daily sessions beat long ones.

Tips for parents

Start easy

The 2, 5 and 10 times tables are the easiest. Build confidence first, then tackle 7 and 8.

5-10 minutes a day

Short, frequent practice builds memory better than long weekend sessions.

Mix when ready

Once a table feels easy, switch to "All tables mixed" to test real recall.
